One in Four Americans Not Aware of Earth Around the Sun

From a survey conducted by the National Science Foundation and involving more than 2,200 respondents in the United States , Read more about free word games for Android at DroidStars.com revealed that the country's citizens are very enthusiastic about what was promised by science . However , they do not have the basic knowledge related to science . In fact , one of the four of them do not realize that the Earth revolves around the Sun .
In the survey , ten questions related to physical science and biology asked , and the average value they get is 6.5 .
After the results were announced at the event in the American Association for the Advancement of Science , held in Chicago , only 74 percent of respondents knew that the Earth around the Sun . In addition , less than half ( 48 percent ) of respondents who know that humans evolved from earlier species .
One in three respondents also mentioned that science needs to get more funding from the government . As nearly 90 percent of them stated , the benefits of science far more than the danger posed . Approximately 90 percent of respondents expressed interest in the discoveries in the medical field .
The results of the survey are routinely held every two years will be included in the report of the National Science Foundation for President Barack Obama and lawmakers institutions in the U.S. .
